Asakusabashi could symbolize the unique characteristics of Japan: tradition and modernity do not appear as opposites here, but rather naturally go hand in hand. Above, a raw piece of infrastructure runs through the scenery – the subway. Below, however, there are small, almost cozy shops, their bustle reminiscent of the old Edo period. The simultaneous existence of past and present in the everyday cityscape.
