My painting develops from the energy of places

It translates atmosphere, movement and tension into contemporary pictorial spaces.

I work predominantly with oil on solid surfaces, mostly on aluminium Dibond. The paint is mainly applied with rubber brushes, which has a decisive influence on the formal language of my works. Small-format studies are often created in gouache and serve mainly as experiments.

My paintings reflect places of my life

Places where I often am or have been. Places that have shaped me. I draw the motifs from my own photographs, but the painting goes beyond the purely visual. My aim is to capture the atmosphere of a place as I perceive it – perceptible in the composition, choice of motif, colouring and technique. Each work is an expression of personal experience and the mood that a place leaves me with.

An expression of my perception and a contemporary document at the same time

Although the visual language is strongly influenced by graphic reduction, abstraction and impressionism, the motifs remain historically and perspectively reliable. The result is artworks that capture the atmosphere of a place and also function as contemporary documents.

I studied interaction design and live and work in Potsdam. I have been continuously developing my own signature style for over ten years. My works invite viewers not only to look at places and atmospheres, but also to empathise with their expression and mood – an open dialogue between perception, colour and space.
