Moments
We live in an age where photos and videos are taken of almost every event and spread in no time at all. Images are produced in large numbers and document events almost in real time. Paradoxically, this flood of images means that many of these moments disappear just as quickly from the collective consciousness. What is visible everywhere today may already be forgotten tomorrow.
In this series of works, I take individual fleeting images and transform them into paintings. By capturing them in oil, I slow down their perception and give them a new permanence. Often these are images that were never originally intended as contemporary documents—and precisely for this reason, they offer a unique perspective on their time.
